Cozy Cable Knit Cats Card

Hi Friends! Emily Mydlowski here with you today sharing two warm and cozy cards using the Cable Knit Background Stamp, the Adorable Fat Cat Stamp Set and sentiments from Flair Greetings.
When I first started stamping, I have to be honest with you as a Clean and Simple Cardmaker…background stamps scared me—they cover so much of the white space and they are SO big to stamp. Well, I’m now here to say that Background Stamps have won my heart over as quick and easy ways to add texture and depth to my card designs and still with just the right amount of white space :-) And with the help of the MISTI, stamping the large images is a breeze that I end up stamping/experimenting with several impressions to create a stack of hand stamped pattern papers.
When I saw the Cable Knit Background, I knew I wanted to emboss it to give the texture and warmth of a real knit blanket/sweater. I stamped the image with VersaMark Ink to soft gray cardstock and heat embossed with white embossing powder. As a contrast to the soft white embossing, I stamped the Cable Knit with deep/dark navy blue and pink. Now I have three pieces of hand stamped patterned paper for my Cozy Fat Cat Cards which I used as card panels and die cut into oval background shapes.

Tip/Trick: Place a half sheet of 8.5 x 11 Cardstock into your MISTI and place your Background Stamp so it sits towards the bottom of your cardstock. This will create a one-layer impression with a nice amount of white space at the top and your pattern on the bottom of your card panel.
I stamped all of the Fat Cat images with VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink to Bristol Smooth Cardstock and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. Then I sat down and had a relaxing time coloring the cute images with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a water brush. After coloring, I fussy cut the images so I could arrange them on my Background Card Panels. I arranged the Cats, Accessories + mouse to their card panels, stamped the sentiments from Flair Greetings and attached all the pieces together with liquid and foam adhesive.
So there we are friends, two Cozy Cat cards perfect for your favorite Cat Lover and/or Knitting Enthusiast. I hope you enjoyed my post today and it inspires you to create with background stamps in fun new ways. Thanks for stopping by and Big Paper Hugs!
