Mini Treat Bag from an Envelope :: Ink Blot Shop Tutorial

If you were at the CREATE event in Columbus (Ohio) this year, you may have created a mini treat bag (we called it a "gift card goodie bag") from an A2 size envelope with my cousin and I at the Ink Blot Shop CITI (Create It, Take It) booth...we had so much fun creating with you!

If you are looking for the instructions for those, we took the basic instructions from a video I had previously shared on Instagram (embedded below) and modified it so that we could use just a half of an A2 envelope to create our little goodie bags.

Gift Card Goodie Bag Project Instructions:
- Glue flap of envelope closed (only getting glue on the outermost edges of the flap where it will allow the envelope to pop open later...don't glue the entire flap)
- Cut envelope in half (2 ⅞")
- Partial punch envelope pocket with circle punch
- Stamp envelope pocket with sentiment & "confetti"
(from Solid Sayings and Accents [Background Builders] stamp sets)
- Score envelope pocket along folded sides only (½")
     → ½" from both sides & ½" from bottom
- Reinforce scored lines by folding and pressing well with bone folder
- Fold into bag shape & glue triangle flaps to sides of bag

If you use a full envelope and just trim a little bit off one side, you can get a taller bag shape...you might call it a "bagalope":

Here's the video for the creation of those little gift bags created from envelopes, if you'd like to see the general process in (fast) action:

As I mentioned in the Instagram video caption, a big shout out goes to @heathermruwe who created a treat bag project that inspired me to want to learn how to make these bags from envelopes and to @jennifermcguireink who made a video yeeeears ago that shows how to do it in much more detail. (Link to Jennifer's video is here.)
