Rainbow Swirls Card

Happy Friday! Recently, I pulled out my water-based markers and I thought it was the perfect medium to use for today’s card. I couldn’t help but pick rainbow colors because I know they blend well together and won’t get muddy. One of the images I associate with rainbows in the Ink Blot Shop store is the Skyline Borders stamp set.

I started off by scribbling the rainbow colors on watercolor paper and then I took a water spray bottle and sprayed it all over. It was so fun and blended together perfectly and was the perfect background for this card. I actually didn’t want to do any fussy cutting today, so I actually took the swirly image from the Skyline Border stamp set and stamped it directly on my panel I created (once it was dry).
I colored it up using the same markers and used a matching darker marker so I could build some dimension – totally not necessary but I wanted to see how it worked. Since the markers are water based and I was using watercolor paper, it blended really nicely without much effort. By coloring them over the already colored panel, it darkened the Skyline Border’s swirly image and really made it pop. To give it something extra, I took a gold gel pen and colored the stars with it. I loved that added accent.
To finish off this card, I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from the Good Times Sentiments in gold to match the stars. I just love how fun this was and it was really quick to create. You don’t even have to color in the swirls at all, which would make this card even quicker to make.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you’re inspired to create. Happy Crafting!

Jeannie
